SolSmart

Introducing Solsmart

The SolSmart program, funded by the U.S. Department of Energy provides no-cost technical services to promote and facilitate the growth of solar energy in cities, towns, counties, and regional organizations. By providing clear guidance and templates based on established best practices, SolSmart assists in implementing key actions across five categories: Permitting and Inspection, Planning and Zoning, Government Operations, Community Engagement, and Market Development. This national initiative aims to reduce solar "soft costs," such as permitting, financing, and installation, with a focus on making solar education and energy more accessible.

Gold Designation

The Village of Deerfield was awarded a Gold Designation from the U.S. Department of Energy's SolSmart program. The Village received the designation in recognition of meeting various criteria such as offering 50% discount on solar permitting fees, establishing a dedicated solar landing page and providing educational resources on solar incentives and financing options, among others.

The Gold Designation acknowledges our commitment to advancing solar initiatives and empowering residents to embrace sustainable energy practices.
