Mission

The Sustainability Commission was created to advance Deerfield’s commitment to environmentally responsible practices, enhancing the quality of life for our residents, businesses and neighbors. The Commission promotes using resources in a way that avoids depletion or permanent damage, while balancing environmental, economic and social needs.

Duties

The Sustainability Commission acts in an advisory capacity to the Mayor and Board of Trustees, to the Village administration and to the Deerfield community to optimize the potential of the Village in environmentally sound practices with a view toward improving the local environment for the benefit of our citizens, businesses and neighbors. The group discusses and promotes sustainable living through education and advocacy.
