The Appearance Review Commission reviews exterior proposals and changes in the commercial businesses to ensure they adhere to the standards set forth by the Deerfield Zoning Ordinance, Deerfield Appearance Code and any other restrictions (i.e. sign criteria) established by the properties. Other items the commission reviews include, but is not limited to, architecture, signage, landscaping, lighting, HVAC enclosures, public art, and outdoor furniture. The Appearance Review Commission's findings are final. However, decisions can be appealed directly to the mayor and board of trustees through a formal process.
The Appearance Review Commission has jurisdiction within the Village Center boundaries (downtown Deerfield) and in the C-2 Outlying Commercial District.
