Construction Update – 8/2/2025
This week, the contractor completed the water main installation within the intersection of Chestnut Street and Hazel Avenue. They also backfilled and cleaned up the parkways on the east end of the project. With the intersection work finished, Hazel Avenue from Chestnut Street to Waukegan Road, including the railroad crossing, was reopened to traffic on Friday afternoon. The contractor will return in the fall to complete the remaining work, which includes the last layer of asphalt and parkway restoration.
Next week, the contractor will return to the area near Prairie Avenue to complete the last of the underground work in the area. This involves the final water main connection at Broadmoor, storm sewer installation at Prairie Avenue, and wrapping up the storm sewer work at the bridge. Once these tasks are finished, storm sewer construction will begin east of Prairie Avenue.
The Village is coordinating with the contractor to accelerate the next phase of work in this area. Additional updates will be provided as they become available.
