Construction Update – 7/25/2025
This week, the contractor completed the first layer of asphalt paving and installed the remaining concrete sidewalk between the railroad and Waukegan Road. Next week, work will focus on general site cleanup, adjusting utility structures, and backfilling any remaining voids to ensure pedestrian safety. The contractor expects to open this section of the road by the end of the week.
Additionally, the large-diameter storm sewer installation at the bridge on the west end was completed. With that work finished, the underground contractor will begin installing the water main within the Chestnut Street intersection starting Monday. This phase will require a full detour of Chestnut Street between Fair Oaks Avenue and Walnut Street during construction hours. The detour is expected to last approximately 3–4 days.
Lastly, the contractor started work in the fourth and final section of the project by converting the existing pavement between Prairie Avenue and Chestnut Street to gravel. This approach will allow utility work to proceed more efficiently.
