This week, underground operations will continue on the west end of the project with two crews operating. One crew will continue water main installation west of the bridge, while the second crew will continue installing storm sewer east of the bridge on Hazel. These underground operations will result in heavy truck traffic in the area. Overhead utility relocations will also continue west of Stratford Rd, as Comcast and AT&T continue to relocate their service lines from the old poles, onto the new poles.
The contractor is on schedule with the plan to complete work west of the bridge before the middle of May to minimize construction operations near the pool during the summer season. The contractor is also on schedule with plans to begin work east of the tracks on Hazel Ave within the next two weeks. That work will result in the closure of Hazel Ave from Chestnut Street to Waukegan Road. This area will only be open to residents who live within the work limits, as all other traffic will be detoured.
