This week the water main between Prairie and Wayne passed testing and home services in that stretch have been shifted over to the new main. The contractor also finished the storm sewer in that area and extended the water main up to Woodward Avenue. Next week the contractor will continue installing the new water main eastward from Woodward Avenue.
In addition, pavement subbase reconstruction began this week between the bridge and Prairie Avenue; that work is expected to conclude early next week. Late next week curb installation will begin on both sides of Hazel. Detailed notices will be sent to all affected properties. Sidewalk work is planned to follow curb installation, likely beginning the week of September 22.
The contractor is working longer weekday hours to increase productivity, and starting tomorrow the underground crew will begin working Saturdays at 7:30 AM. This is being done to recover time lost from unforeseen delays and to stay on schedule for project completion by Thanksgiving, as originally planned.
