Many Village permits and applications are now online.  Please visit our online permit portal to apply for permits.  For permits that are still being processed as paper-based, download applications at our Permit Applications & Forms page.

The cost of the permit is generally based on the cost of the job; however there are other associated costs that may be included depending on the type of project. 

When you submit your building permit, you will receive an approximate plan review time. Permit applications are reviewed in the order in which received. Review times vary depending on the size of your project, time of year, and if your plans need to also be reviewed by the Village Engineering Department. During plan review, the homeowner and/or contractor will be contacted with any questions, problems or any additional information that is needed.

For permits processed in the Online Permit Portal, applicants can view the status of the permit and communicate with staff. For paper-based permits please contact the Building Division at 847.719.7484

Once your plans and permits have been approved, the homeowner and/or contractor will be notified that the permit is ready to be picked up or downloaded (depending on how the Village processes the permit type), and of the total permit cost due. Plans and permit fees may be paid at the Village Hall, or online for applicable permit types.
