Food Truck Wednesday Returns July 9

Deerfield’s tastiest summer tradition rolls back into town on Wednesday, July 9, from 4:30 to 8 p.m. at the Metra parking lot at Deerfield Road and Park Avenue.

Bring your appetite and enjoy a delicious evening filled with local favorites and mouthwatering flavors from some of the area’s top food trucks.

It’s a fun, casual night out for the whole family—grab your lawn chairs, bring your friends and enjoy great food in the heart of Deerfield!

50/50 Parkway Tree Program

The application for the 50/50 Tree Program is now open.  

The Village of Deerfield is a member of the Suburban Tree Consortium, which enables us to obtain high-quality trees at competitive pricing. Most of our trees will be ordered from Wilson Nurseries, Inc. The trees offered through the program are 2.5” in diameter. Applications due by August 29. This is a first-come, first-served program with a limited amount of each tree. The cost is $225. 

The Village will pay half the cost to plant a tree in the parkway.  Your tree will be balled in burlap, guaranteed for one year, and planted by the Public Works Department. Planting will take place in the fall. Trees will be planted in the parkway and cannot be planted on private property. Watch your tree next summer and, if you notice any problems, call us so we can have the tree examined before the guarantee expires. 

Keep the Celebration Going at the Farmers Market – Saturday, July 5

The Fourth of July fun doesn’t stop on Friday. Join us at the Deerfield Farmers Market on Saturday, July 5, for fresh, festive finds that are perfect for your weekend plans!

This week’s highlights include sweet corn and juicy peaches - just in time for your summer table. It’s also your last chance for fresh shelled peas, so don’t miss out. Stock up on fresh-baked treats for your BBQs and gatherings and be sure to check out Twisted Olive, our featured non-weekly vendor offering infused oils and more.

The market runs from 7 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Park Avenue. See you there!

Junior Police Academy Registration Now Open

The Deerfield Police Department is excited to announce the return of the Junior Police Academy, taking place August 4–8. This unique program gives middle school-aged students a behind-the-scenes look at the world of law enforcement while building positive connections with Deerfield Police Officers.

There will be two daily sessions, each running Monday through Friday:

• Morning Session: 9 – 11:30 a.m.
• Afternoon Session: 1– 3:30 p.m.

Registration is now open and will close once both sessions are full. The program is free and open to Deerfield residents ages 10–13 at the time of the Academy. The Deerfield Police Department reserves the right to deny enrollment at its discretion.
