LRS Tree Collection

LRS will begin non-artificial tree collection next week and will continue collecting through Wednesday, January 22, on your regular collection day at no added cost to residents. Please do not put the tree in a plastic bag and be sure to remove all tinsel, lights and ornaments. If the tree is over 6 feet tall, it should be cut into two pieces. Trees must be placed at the curbside. Real wreaths without wire are also accepted.

Due to snow and ice, trees may not always be taken on your primary service day, but LRS drivers and trucks will be in the community for the majority of the month making these pickups.

Go Green for the Holidays

Learn about the Hefty Renew program and the LRS composting program to make your holiday season green.

The Village of Deerfield has partnered with LRS and Reynolds Consumer Products to bring residents the Hefty ReNew Program, which is designed to complement regular recycling efforts.

Participants fill the bags with accepted hard-to-recycle plastics, tie them when full and place them in their LRS curbside bin. The recycling truck collects the tied bags along with other recyclable items. At the recycling center, these bags are separated from other materials and sent to facilities that either use the hard-to-recycle plastics as an energy source or break them down to create new products. Visit the Village's website for more information.

As part of the Village’s new contract with LRS, residents can place organics material and food waste out for weekly collection. Food waste accounts for approximately 20% of all waste that ends up in landfills. With the organics/food waste option, residents will now play a larger role in reducing this type of waste in landfills while helping to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. Visit the Village's website for more information.
