Police Department Citizen's Police Academy

Enroll today in the fall session of the Citizen's Police Academy.

The Citizen’s Police Academy is a nine-week program designed to enhance communication between the police department and the community. Participants are instructed in a variety of law enforcement topics by officers who specialize in those areas. The session will be limited to 10 participants. The Academy is FREE to attend!

The fall 2024 session will be held Wednesday evenings 7 p.m.-9:30 p.m. from September 11 through November 6. Registration closes September 1 or when session is full. Register online today.

The Citizen’s Police Academy is open to anyone who is 18 years of age or older and lives or works in Deerfield. A background check is completed on all applicants. The Deerfield Police Department reserves the right to deny enrollment for any reason.

Why do I need to get a building permit?

It's the law. State building code requires that permits be obtained for certain types of work. Permits provide a legal record of work preformed.

Permits protect you, your family and your investment. They are designed to help ensure that licensed contractors do the work required.

Inspections ensure that work is done safely and meets the minimum code requirements.

Minor problems could lead to costly repairs, liability and life/safety issues that can be detected during permit inspection and brought to your attention before the situation worsens.

When buying or selling a property, the buyer, realtor and/or lender may require that unpermitted work be corrected, properly permitted and inspected before closing.

Police Department Speed Campaign

The Deerfield Police Department actively participated in the IDOT July Speed Awareness campaign, conducting extra traffic enforcement. This initiative led to 92 traffic stops and 77 citations, including 57 for speeding. The Deerfield Police remind drivers: “Speeding Catches Up With You.” Stay safe on the roads.
