Deerfield Police Department Citizen’s Police Academy 

Engaging and Educating the Community

The Citizen’s Police Academy is an eight week program designed to enhance communication between the police department and the community. Participants are instructed in a variety of law enforcement topics by officers who specialize in those areas. In addition, participants have the option of riding with an officer on patrol and participating in hands on activities. 

Spring 2019 Session

The Spring 2019 Session is now full! Classes will be held Thursday evenings from 7:00 PM to 9:30 PM at the Police Department. The ten-week session will start March 14 and run through May 23. There will be no class the week of March 28.  

The Academy is FREE to attend! 

Who Can Attend 

The Citizen’s Police Academy is open to anyone who: 

  • Is 18 years of age or older 
  • Lives or works in Deerfield 

A background check is completed on all applicants. The Deerfield Police Department reserves the right to deny enrollment for any reason.

  • DUI and Traffic Enforcement 
  • Major Crash Assistance Team
  • Criminal Investigations 
  • Patrol Duties 
  • Department Administration
