Residential Lead Water Service Line Replacement Program

As part of the Illinois Lead Service Line Replacement and Notification Act passed in 2021, all municipalities must begin to facilitate the replacement of known lead service lines beginning in 2027. Taking a proactive approach to this requirement, the Village Board recently approved a Residential Lead Service Line Replacement Program, a voluntary cost sharing initiative designed to assist homeowners with replacing lead water service lines and reducing potential exposure to lead in drinking water. The program provides financial assistance to eligible properties, with funding available on a first-come, first-served basis. Because funding and spots for this program are limited, residents are encouraged to review all program requirements and specifications before the program application opens on March 9. The program does not cover replacements that are required for repairs, remodeling, new construction or other mandated improvements. Information about the program, along with a lookup tool that allows residents to check their property’s water line material by address, is available on the Village website.

Honor a Hero: Celebrate with a Legacy Veteran Banner

The Village of Deerfield is inviting families, residents and local organizations to help honor the veterans who have served our nation — whether a loved one, a friend or a local hero. As part of Illinois America250, celebrating the 250th birthday of the United States, Deerfield will proudly display veteran banners throughout the downtown area as a meaningful way to recognize service, sacrifice and the stories that helped shape our community and our country.

Each banner will feature the veteran’s military photo, branch of service and years of service, and will be displayed in Downtown Deerfield from approximately late May through early July. Sponsors will need to upload a clear headshot of their veteran and submit a $25 per banner cost share payment, which can be made at Village Hall or mailed to 850 Waukegan Road, Deerfield, IL 60015. All applications are due by May 1, and veterans should have a community tie to the Village of Deerfield. Sign up online today.

For more information or to participate, please contact Cmdr. Oliver Cachola at 847.945.8636 or ocachola@deerfield.il.us.
