Residential Backflow Survey: Help Keep Deerfield’s Drinking Water Safe
The Illinois Environmental Protection Agency (IEPA) requires all public water systems to operate an effective cross-connection control program. Cross connections can allow contaminants to enter the water system through “backflow” when water pressure drops and water reverses direction. Your cooperation helps protect the integrity of Deerfield’s water supply and the health of our community.
Please complete the Residential Cross-Connection/Backflow Survey so we can identify any potential cross connections at your property. You can submit by filling out the paper survey enclosed in your next water bill or complete it online at BSI Online, the Village’s contractor for cross-connection recordkeeping: bsionline.com/Deerfield
Backflow occurs when a drop in water pressure causes water to flow in the opposite direction, which can draw non-potable water into the drinking water system. Identifying and controlling cross connections is essential to prevent contamination.
