Leaf Collection Program Extended by One Week

The Village’s leaf collection program has been extended by one week due to the late date of leaf dropping this season. The program will now run through the week of December 1, weather permitting, when crews will make one final pass by all homes in the Village.

The Village’s annual leaf collection program provides residents with an alternative for disposal of their autumn leaves.

Residents who do not mulch or bag their leaves may rake leaves to the curb or carriage walk before their scheduled pickup day. The southeast quadrant is collected Mondays, southwest Tuesdays, northeast Wednesdays and the northwest on Thursdays.

We ask that you do not put out leaves more than one day prior to your scheduled pickup day. Leaves should be raked in a long, neat row that does not exceed five feet in width.

They should be raked as close to the curb as possible, so long as they are not placed in the street or on top of the carriage walks or sidewalk, as this causes safety hazards. If you have landscapers, please direct them to abide by the Village’s leaf collection guidelines.

Crews will not follow the normal collection schedule during the week of Thanksgiving, but will still service every street in the Village. Therefore, it’s important to have your leaves out by Monday morning of next week.

Holiday Donation Drives

As the chilly winter air settles in, the Village of Deerfield invites residents to join in the festive spirit with two holiday events, each providing a chance to give back to the community.

On Dec. 5, the Winter Lighting Celebration will illuminate the Village Hall, marking the start of the holiday season with twinkling lights and festive cheer. The following day, Dec. 6, the Winter Market at the Patty Turner Center will welcome locals to explore an array of unique gifts, crafts, and treats from various local vendors.

These events are about more than just celebration; they offer opportunities for community support. Attendees will find collection bins at both venues, providing a chance to contribute to two significant local charity initiatives.

The Rotary Club's "Coat Off Your Back" drive encourages residents to donate new or gently used winter coats. These donations will support more than a dozen local homeless and refugee support organizations, providing warmth to infants, children, teens, and adults throughout the winter months. Collections continue until Dec. 15, with donation spots located around Glenview, Northbrook, and Deerfield.

In addition, the Deerfield Police Department is hosting its annual toy drive, now in its 15th year for Lutheran General Hospital and 5th year for Ronald McDonald House. The drive collected a record number of toys last year for children at both locations, thanks to the community's generosity.

We invite everyone to be a part of these events and make a lasting impact. Your participation and contributions will bring warmth and joy to many this holiday season. Thank you for your continued support and generosity.
