Recycle Halloween Candy with Hefty Renew

The Hefty ReNew™ program helps keep plastics that aren't eligible for curbside recycling programs out of landfills! Plastic candy wrappers and the bulk bags they come in can be placed in the Hefty ReNew™ orange bags. This program is only available to single-family households in Deerfield.

Residents can learn more about the program, request a starter kit and find retail locations on its website.

Field of Honor: Nov. 7-11

From November 7 to November 11, 2025, the Village of Deerfield invites residents to experience a breathtaking display of 500 United States flags at Jewett Park.

This moving tribute, part of the national Field of Honor event, will serve as a powerful reminder of the sacrifices made by our veterans and active-duty service members and is organized by the Village, Deerfield Police Department, Deerfield-Bannockburn Fire Protection District, Deerfield Public Library, Deerfield Park District and Deerfield American Legion Post 738.

Each flag in this solemn display represents an individual and carries a unique story. Residents have the opportunity to sponsor a flag in honor of a veteran, active-duty military member or another personal hero.

This year’s “Honoring Our Veterans” display is made possible through the generosity of sponsors, donors and dedicated volunteers.

Proceeds will benefit Midwest Veterans Closet and Lake County Honor Flight, organizations that support and uplift those who have served.

To find more information, to sponsor a flag or become a corporate sponsor, visit the event website or contact Hannah Kroll at hkroll@deerfield.il.us or 847.794.7515.

West Deerfield Township Food Pantry Update

The West Deerfield Township Food Pantry provides year-round support to residents facing hardship. With the help of the community, individuals and families can put food on the table with dignity and compassion. Whether it’s a parent balancing multiple jobs, a senior living on fixed income or a family recovering from sudden loss, our neighbors turn to the Pantry during difficult times and find not only groceries, but also understanding, respect and hope.

As food prices continue to rise and federal Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits end, the demand for food pantry services has grown dramatically. Many who never imagined needing help now rely on the Food Pantry to make ends meet.

The Pantry operates entirely on community generosity. Food and monetary donations are essential to keeping our shelves stocked and ensuring every resident has access to nutritious food and basic household necessities. Cash donations are especially impactful, to provide grocery gift cards that let families shop for fresh items locally.

Please consider helping your neighbors in need by donating today at www.westdeerfieldtownship.org. Together, Deerfield can ensure that everyone in our community has access to healthy food and the dignity that comes with it.
