Village Tree Trimming

The Village’s tree trimming contractor is expected to begin their annual work on Monday, January 13. This work includes trimming of Village-owned trees along Deerfield Road, west of Waukegan Road, as well as a portion of the Village-owned trees within the southwest quadrant. This work is expected to take two weeks to complete and is weather dependent.

Trimming is scheduled during the dormant season to avoid unnecessary damage or trauma to the tree and is done in accordance with professional standards. It may include cutting lower limbs for clearance and thinning of the crown.

Free Child Safety Seat Inspection Event

This Sunday, January 12, bring your child’s car seat to a FREE safety inspection event! Certified child safety seat technicians including Deerfield Police and Deerfield-Bannockburn Fire personnel will be on hand to ensure your seat is installed correctly and provide expert advice.

LRS Tree Collection

LRS will continue non-artificial tree collection through Wednesday, January 22, on your regular collection day at no added cost to residents. Please do not put the tree in a plastic bag and be sure to remove all tinsel, lights and ornaments. If the tree is over 6 feet tall, it should be cut into two pieces. Trees must be placed at the curbside. Real wreaths without wire are also accepted.

Due to snow and ice, trees may not always be taken on your primary service day, but LRS drivers and trucks will be in the community for the majority of the month making these pickups.

District 109 Kindergarten Registration Now Open

Registration for the 2025-2026 school year is OPEN! Families of ALL incoming kindergarten and NEW 1st-8th grade students, please visit the District 109 registration page and begin the registration process now. Starting kindergarten is a wonderful milestone in a child’s life! Stop by the district office with your little one on Friday, January 31, between 7:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. to ask any registration questions you may have, drop off any documents and, most importantly, get a photo op to celebrate the start of your child’s school journey, a small souvenir to take home and an opportunity to meet some of the friendly faces they will see every day! Again, that’s Friday, January 31, from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the district office, located at 517 Deerfield Road (across the parking lot from Kipling School).
