Voting on Election Day

The General Election is next Tuesday, November 5. While Village Hall is a polling place, there are multiple election day voting sites for residents depending on your address and precinct. To find your election day polling place, visit LakeVoterPower.Info on the Office of the Lake County Clerk’s website or visit the Cook County Clerk’s website.

Recycle Candy Wrappers with Hefty ReNew

Recycle your Halloween candy wrappers with the new Hefty ReNew program. Place the wrappers, along with other hard to recycle materials, in the orange Hefty ReNew bag. When it’s full, simply tie the bag and drop it in your recycle cart for collection by LRS. These bags are separated from other materials and sent to facilities that either use the hard-to-recycle plastics as an energy source or break them down to create new products. Stop by Village Hall for a free starter kit while supplies last. Alternatively, for $8, households can purchase a box of orange bags, which is estimated to last a year. The Hefty ReNew orange bags are available online and in-person at Jewel Osco, Target, Walmart and other retailers.

Pumpkins at Village Hall

Compost Your Pumpkins

Remember to compost your pumpkins and jack-o-lanterns once Halloween is over.

LRS will accept pumpkins under 50 pounds. Pumpkins should not be adorned with anything, have wax in them or be painted, as they may not be able to be composted under these conditions.

Deerfield-Bannockburn Fire Department Hosts Medical Lifesaving Skills Event

The Deerfield-Bannockburn Fire Department will host a lifesaving skills event on Saturday, November 2, from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. at their fire station located at 500 Waukegan Road. This event is held in partnership with State Senator Julie Morrison, and the fire station will also be hosting a blood drive from 9 a.m. – 3 p.m.

This event will focus on how bystanders, friends and family members can provide emergency medical treatment before the first responders arrive. Learning stations will include hands-only CPR, assistance to a person that is choking, “Stop the Bleed” and making effective 911 calls. The fire department will also showcase and demonstrate medical equipment that is carried and used on advanced life support ambulances.

Please visit their Facebook page or website for further information regarding schedule of events and blood drive sign-up information.

Daylight Saving Time Reminder

Are you ready for an extra hour of sleep this Sunday? Hopefully your dog won’t notice the later morning walk. Remember to "fall back" for Daylight Saving Time on November 3 by setting your clocks back one hour.

Don't Place Political Signs in Right of Way

Political Sign Regulations

During the political campaign season, the Village wants to remind residents about regulations for placing political campaign signs, or any signs, on your property.

Permits are not required for temporary signs, and residents can place any number of political signs on their property as long as the aggregate gross surface area does not exceed 20 square feet. Any signs in the public right-of-way will be removed without notice.

Signs must be:

  • on private property;
  • at least 5 feet from the house side of the sidewalk;
  • at least 10 feet from the house side of a carriage walk; and
  • at least 15 feet from the street edge or back of curb if no sidewalk.

Signs must not be:

  • placed in the public right-of-way;
  • attached to trees, traffic or light poles, utility poles or fire hydrants; or
  • higher than 10 feet above curb level.

If you have any questions regarding the Village's regulations, please contact the Community Development Department at 847.719.7484. View a printable flyer of the regulations.
