New Hefty ReNew Partnership Solves Hard-to-Recycle Refuse

Launching in October, the Village of Deerfield is partnering with Hefty, Lakeshore Recycling Systems and SWALCO to offer a new recycling program designed to complement current efforts.

Residents can purchase a box of orange Hefty ReNew bags from their grocery store, place hard-to-recycle items like chip bags, Styrofoam, plastic bags, candy wrappers and plastic utensils into these bags, and then put the bags into their curbside recycling bin.

Lakeshore Recycling Systems will sort and recycle these items into new products, supporting environmental sustainability and advancing a circular plastics economy by diverting waste from landfills.

Just leave the bag of items in your recycle bin and LRS will sort them and recycle them into new products.

For more information, visit the Hefty ReNew page on the Village's website.

Final Farmers Market of the Season - October 5

Join us this Saturday for the final market of the season! We’ve got Patz Maple & Honey, Legacy Fudge and Twisted Olive as our non-weekly vendors, ready to bring you their best goodies.

For the kids, the Sachs Center will be hosting a fun dice game, keeping everyone moving and laughing!

Come stock up on all your fall favorites before the market wraps up for the year! And don’t worry, we’ll be sharing winter options from our vendors in a few weeks.

Thank you to everyone who came out and supported the market this season – the vendors truly appreciate your loyalty! See you for one last market hurrah! Remember to follow the Deerfield Farmers Market on Facebook.

Don't Place Political Signs in Right of Way

Political Sign Regulations

During the political campaign season, the Village wants to remind residents about regulations for placing political campaign signs, or any signs, on your property.

Permits are not required for temporary signs, and residents can place any number of political signs on their property as long as the aggregate gross surface area does not exceed 20 square feet. Any signs in the public right-of-way will be removed without notice.

Signs must be:

  • on private property;
  • at least 5 feet from the house side of the sidewalk;
  • at least 10 feet from the house side of a carriage walk; and
  • at least 15 feet from the street edge or back of curb if no sidewalk.

Signs must not be:

  • placed in the public right-of-way;
  • attached to trees, traffic or light poles, utility poles or fire hydrants; or
  • higher than 10 feet above curb level.

If you have any questions regarding the Village's regulations, please contact the Community Development Department at 847.719.7484. View a printable flyer of the regulations.
