Hydrant Painting Underway

Today, Village contractor GIANT Maintenance and Restoration started the annual hydrant painting program. This year, the Village will be painting 106 hydrants at various locations. The hydrants will be sandblasted and then painted white using primer. GIANT will return and apply the final red coat after the primer is dry.

This two-day event, held on July 3 and July 4, commemorates Independence Day. Thousands of residents and visitors attend annually to enjoy family fun at the Deerfield parade and fireworks show. Arts Alive at DHS Saturday

Arts Alive!, the new arts festival launching at Deerfield High School, will culminate the week-long celebration with a Professional Art Expo this Saturday. This free, family friendly event is open to the public from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. at DHS.

The “Art Expo” Open House will showcase 30 professional artists displaying their work, demonstrating their techniques, and letting the public get hands-on with projects.

Artistic disciplines represented at the Expo include: Digital Caricatures, Weaving, Puppetry, Silk Painting, Henna, Paper Quilling, Masking Tape Sculpture, Floral Painting, Diary Boxes, Glass Blowing, Printmaking, Mosaics, Ceramics, Encaustic Painting, Collage, Silversmith, Origami, Mural, Mixed Media and more!

In addition, the event will feature pop up performances which will include a puppet show, drum circles, an interactive dance performance, wandering giant puppets, as well as a very special vocal performance by DHS

Food Truck Wednesday Returns May 15

The Village of Deerfield is excited for this year’s Food Truck Wednesday summer series. The first event will be held on May 15 from 4:30 – 8 p.m. and will include live music and bounce equipment for kids. This year’s vendors include: Happy Lobster, Fat Shallot, La Cocinita, Serna’s Grill, Pierogi Rig, Tamales Express, La Humita, Billy Bricks Pizza, Fork N Fry, Donut Jester, Nothing Bundt Cakes and more. Due to construction at Jewett Park, the first event will be held in the Brickyards Park Parking Lot. Parking is available in the Patty Turner Senior Center Parking Lot.
