Harvest Fest - September 9

Harvest Fest is tomorrow with lots of fun events planned throughout the day!

Start your day at the Farmers Market with more than 30 vendors, the popular touch-a-truck and RC Juggles with free balloon creations and giant bubbles.

Then, come back to Park Avenue in the evening for live music, the bags tournament and tasty bites from your favorite food vendors.

• Gates open at 4:30 p.m.
• Parking is available at the Downtown Deerfield Metra lots and Lindemann lot. 
• Grab a buddy and sign up now for the Deerfield Harvest Fest Bags Tournament! Sponsored by Parkway Bank, this free tournament has remained a highlight of Harvest Fest for seven years. (Participants must be at least 16 years of age or older.)
• Live music by West End 40 5:00 - 6:00 p.m., 7th Heaven  6:30 - 9:00 p.m.
• Food and refreshments will be available for purchase. Food vendors include: Caldwell's Grille - Embassy Suites, Rosebud, Nothing Bundt Cakes, Serna's Grill, Mario's Cart, Da Pizza Dude, Donut Jester and La Humita.
• Beer, wine and water will be available for purchase (must be 21 or older to purchase alcohol).
• To ensure a safe and fun event for everyone: No Pets, No Bikes, No Smoking.

Take a Solar Tour in Town

This FREE event offers the opportunity to tour innovative green homes and buildings, and see how solar energy can be used efficiently. The tour hopes to inspire people across the state to make sustainable energy choices that reduce costs, support energy independence, protect against power outages, and reduce carbon emissions. Six Deerfield locations are participating in the tour to date.

This is a chance to see affordable and practical technologies in your neighborhood that benefit the environment and are part of the solution to our nation’s energy problems. 'My Name is Lopez' Film Viewing & Discussion

Guitarist/singer Trini Lopez overcame all odds in the 1960s to become a music legend, and one of the first Latino rock stars. View the documentary, followed by a discussion with co-producer Gary Gand and Brett Schwartz, head of DHS Film & TV department. The event is Thursday, September 28, 6:00 p.m. Click to register. Old Time String Band Open Jam at Historic Village

An old time string band open jam will be held Sunday, September 10, from 2 to 4 p.m, at the Deerfield Historic Village, located at the intersection of Deerfield and Kipling Roads. Join local band Tubway, Subway, and the Terrible Goat as they host an old time string band jam open to all levels of playing ability. Admission is free. The Deerfield Historic Village is open for tours on Sundays, from 2 to 4 p.m., June through September. The Deerfield Area Historical Society, a donor-supported, nonprofit organization, maintains the Historic Village.
