Sustainability Commission at Farmers Market

The Sustainability Committee will be hosting a booth at the Farmers Market tomorrow, July 29, with green initiatives that help the environment and your pocketbook. They will be promoting the ComEd Energy Efficiency program. This is a free energy assessment that can help reduce your energy footprint and associated utility expenses. Go Native! The Commission will be handing out native seed packets for you to plant at home to help preserve our local ecosystems. Also, learn how easy it is to compost with a live demonstration and take home a free compost toolkit. Finally, save the date for the “Healthy Hedges” buckthorn removal program on October 14 at 10 a.m. at Deerfield Village Hall.

Oppressive Heat and Humidity

The National Weather Service advises that there is the possibility for extreme heat indices and severe storms today. NWS recommends staying in air-conditioned spaces and out of the sun, drinking plenty of water, and checking on friends and relatives who do not have air conditioning, especially the elderly.
