New Parkway Trees Planted

Crews planted 51 new parkway trees this week as part of the 2022 50/50 Parkway Tree Program. Residents split the cost of the trees and planting with the Village, and the trees are guaranteed for one year. Watch for the online application to go live next summer to have one planted in your parkway.

Pink Patch

Police Department Goes Pink

The Deerfield Police Department has partnered with Cancer Wellness Center of Northbrook for a Pink Patch fundraiser. Throughout the month of October you may see Deerfield Police employees wearing uniforms with pink patches to raise awareness and show their support for the cause.

If you'd like a pink Deerfield Police patch, all you have to do is make a minimum of $10 donation to the Cancer Wellness Center online at www.cancerwellness.org (make sure to put "DPD" in the notes section) and show us your receipt at the Police Department.

The Cancer Wellness Center provides education, wellness services and psychosocial support to those impacted by cancer and their loved ones. A limited number of patches are available so make your donation and stop in for a patch today!

Fine Arts Commission Call for Artists

The Village of Deerfield is soliciting artwork loans from artists as part of the fifth year of the Deerfield Public Art Program. Artists must be willing to loan works of art for public display for up to one year. The Deerfield Fine Arts Commission will review artwork proposals submitted by artists interested in having their works displayed in the community.

The program is soliciting paintings, murals, drawings and other pieces to be displayed in Village Hall, the Public Works Facility, Deerfield Park District facilities, the Deerfield Public Library and other government buildings.

The art is displayed for one year in public buildings, and new pieces are selected each year. Applications for the next year of the program are now available online.

The Deerfield Fine Arts Commission’s Public Art Program has placed nearly 100 pieces of art on display in public buildings over the years.

The Deerfield Public Art Program is open to all visual artists who meet the following:

  • Artists who are professional and of serious intent.
  • Artists working in any permanent media.
  • Art students working with practicing artists/teachers may be considered.
  • Artists must have knowledge of public art. While previous experience in public art is not required, artists should be knowledgeable of materials, techniques and public art processes.
  • Appropriateness of an artist’s work for public display (in terms of scale, material, content and placement).
  • All selected artwork must be delivered to the Village “ready-to-hang” for immediate display.

Artists may submit up to three pieces of art for consideration. Click here to submit online.
