Gov. Pritzker Announces Illinois Plan to Lift Statewide Indoor Mask Requirement February 28
On Wednesday, February 9, Governor J.B. Pritzker announced a phased approach to lifting the statewide indoor mask mandate on February 28. If COVID-19 metrics continue to trend downward, the mask mandate will end on February 28. Masks are still required in health care facilities and congregate care, public transit, federal buildings, daycares, and schools. Private businesses also have the option to impose their own mask mandates. Residents are strongly encouraged to continue wearing their masks and stay up-to-date on vaccines to protect themselves, the elderly, the young, and the immunocompromised. Residents should also keep a mask on them after February 28, as they may encounter businesses or circumstances where a mask is required.
