A Message from Mayor Shapiro
Dear neighbors and friends,
Last night, I was pleased to have officially lifted the Village’s Declaration of Emergency that was first put in place on March 16, 2020. We have had no new cases of COVID-19 in the Village for more than a week, and on Monday, the Illinois Department of Public Health reported no new COVID-19 fatalities in the State for the first time since, coincidentally, March 16, 2020.
I want to thank the residents, business community and Village staff for getting us to this place. Deerfield took COVID-19 seriously. We social distanced, we masked up and we got vaccinated. We did this together. While the virus is not completely gone, we should all be proud of our efforts and continue to be safe. Let’s not forget our first responders, doctors, those we have lost and those still struggling from COVID-19.
The last 16 months have shown that we are a resilient and compassionate community. I believe those traits will serve us in the future.
If you have not yet received a vaccine, please do so. Click here to find the best local option for you.
