Lake County COVID-19 Warning

On November 6, Lake County entered orange ‘warning’ level for COVID-19 risk on the Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) county-level risk map. This is the third time Lake County has entered warning status. A total of 75 counties in Illinois are currently at warning status.

Based on data from October 25-31, four metrics have caused this designation:

  • Our weekly incidence rate increased from 170 cases per 100,000 residents to 284 cases per 100,000 residents;
  • Lake County’s testing positivity rate increased from 7% to 9.3%;
  • Weekly deaths increased from 7 to 12 deaths;
  • Weekly hospital admissions for COVID-19-like illness increased from 72 to 102.

For more information about COVID-19, visit the websites of the Lake County and Cook County Health Departments.

Leaf Collection

Leaf Collection Program Update

Starting next week, the Public Works Department will reduce the number of crews working on fall leaf collection to minimize the risk of staff contracting the COVID-19 virus. This means it will take longer than usual and the crews may not be able to perform the collection on the specified day.  If your collection is not completed on the regularly specified day, crews will return the next day to perform the work.

To ensure completion collection for all quadrants of the Village, Public Works crews will be performing leaf collection Monday through Friday rather than Monday through Thursday and will be extending hours. If necessary, crews will work on Saturday.

Memorial

Veterans Day Car Parade

The Village of Deerfield and the Deerfield American Legion are partnering to honor our senior veterans this year with a drive-by parade. If you are looking for a safe way to celebrate Veterans Day, you are invited to join us in your vehicle at Deerfield High School next Wednesday, November 11.

The parade will start at the high school at approximately 10:00 a.m. and drive by the homes of WWII, Korean War, Cuban Missile Crisis, and Vietnam War veterans, and will end at the Deerfield Veterans Memorial at 11:00 a.m., with participants remaining their vehicles.

If you know of a senior veteran who is not a member of the legion and whom you would like to see included in the tribute, please contact Mary Blankenship, Commander of Deerfield American Legion Post 738, at 847-948-7451.

Flu Shot

If you are unable to print and fill out prior to the event, forms will be available on site.  Please wear a short sleeve shirt under your layers of clothing, allowing easy access to your arm/shoulder.

This is a Drive Thru Flu Shot Clinic so you will not be required to leave your car and all staff will be wearing protective equipment and enforcing social distancing.  Just follow the signs.

For more information, visit the DBR Chamber’s website or call office at 847-945-4660.
