Non-Emergency Village Offices Closed May 27; Garbage Collection Delayed; Memorial Day Ceremony

All non-emergency Village offices will be closed on Monday, May 27 in honor of Memorial Day. Regular office hours will resume the following Tuesday.

Garbage collection will be delayed by one day. If you have questions or concerns, contact Waste Management at 800.796.9696.

A Memorial Day ceremony will be hosted by the Deerfield American Legion on May 27 at 10 a.m. at the Veterans Memorial in Jewett Park (corner of Jewett Park Drive and Park Avenue). The ceremony is followed by a procession to the cemetery for a reading of the names of veterans buried there. The Deerfield American Legion will host an open house from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the post (849 Waukegan Road) in celebration of the 100th Anniversary of the American Legion. There will be food, refreshments and desserts.  Additionally the Deerfield Police will be there to deputize children and the Midwest Veterans Closet will be there to talk with community members about the work they do every day in support of our veterans.

We are asking everyone to bring food to the open house for the Midwest Veterans Closet. Deerfield was actually responsible for starting the food pantry which now serves veterans across three states and we want to continue our strong support of the great work they are doing at Midwest Veterans Closet.
