Paving Begins Tomorrow on Meadow (Road Closed), Wilmot Road and Berkeley Court

Posted on September 18, 2019 at 4:36 PM by John Guccione

Paving will take place on Thursday (9/19) and Friday (9/20) at various locations in the Village of Deerfield.

Paving schedule provided below:

MEADOW LANE Paving Thursday 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. ROAD CLOSED
Paving will begin at 9:30 a.m. on Meadow Lane which will result in the complete closure of Meadow Lane from 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.   The dead end and narrow roadway at this location dictate the need to pave Meadow Lane using the full width of the roadway.

WILMOT ROAD:  Paving Thursday afternoon after completion of Meadow Lane.

BERKELEY  COURT:  Paving Thursday afternoon and Friday morning if needed.

ROSEMARY TERRACE:   Paving on Friday.

During tomorrow’s operation the contractor will place 1 to 2 inches of hot mix asphalt leveling binder. Once this layer of asphalt has time to cool, traffic will be permitted to travel across it (1-2 hours after placement).

Upon completion of tomorrow’s paving operation, this will leave a 2-inch gap at the curb which is accessible by vehicles (drive slowly through driveway approaches). The contractor will return at a later date to place the remaining 2-inch surface course, as additional work will be required prior to placement of surface course. Additional notice will be provided prior to surface course paving, as surface paving will also result in a daytime closure of Meadow Lane.

Paving operations will include heavy truck traffic and will present major delays to through traffic. During this time and if possible, please avoid the construction operations and utilize adjacent roadways. All driveways will be accessible at the completion of the work day.

fresh-oil

Please be aware that signs stating “Fresh Oil” may be observed throughout the time period when asphalt paving will occur. The use of fresh oil helps different layers of asphalt to adhere to one another providing a longer lasting final product. Residents should be mindful of driving through fresh oil. If a detour is not in place and motorists must drive through fresh oil, please drive slowly. Driving at higher speeds through fresh oil may cause the material to adhere to the undercarriage and/or fenders of the car, which can be difficult and costly to remove.
