The Village of Deerfield is proposing to improve Hazel Avenue from Wilmot Road to Waukegan Road (US Route 43). The project will consist of a full reconstruction to provide a consistent pavement width, widen sidewalk with ADA attributes and improve underground utilities. A width of 24 feet will be maintained from Wilmot Road to Wayne Avenue and the pavement will be widened to a width of 22 feet from Wayne Avenue to Waukegan Road. The project will include a deck sealing of the bridge over the West Fork North Branch of the Chicago River but will not include work at the Metra Milwaukee District North railroad crossing. At this time, the construction start date cannot be determined however it is not planned to take place prior to 2023.
