West Deerfield Township #DoItForDeerfield

The West Deerfield Township offices may be closed to the public, but our work serving the community continues. Much of what we’re doing is the result of the enormous support of the Deerfield community. The generosity and concern you’ve shown your neighbors during this challenging and tenuous time is truly inspiring! With your help, here are some of the ways we are keeping our commitment to serve our residents.Food Pantry

Supplying Food

We are providing prepackaged grocery bags, and a “drive-thru" food pantry in our parking lot and sourcing fresh items, like butter, eggs, milk, cheese, fruits and veggies. We drop off food, when needed, to seniors or others who are home-bound and pick up donations when necessary. A special shout out to the "Gratitude Generation", which has donated multiple pre-packaged bags ready to distribute, saving our staff countless hours of sorting and bagging.

Keeping people healthy

Our goal is to provide face masks to everyone served by the food pantry, as well as our volunteers, transportation service riders and spouses, and assistance clients. Our goal is 425 masks — thanks to all who have already donated! Partnering with NorthShore University Healthcare, we are coordinating calls to roughly 400 community members to review COVID-19 symptoms, and relaying info on finding help as needed.

Combatting loneliness

Our newly-expanded “phone buddy program” connects community volunteers with seniors or vulnerable residents, and is heartwarming for all involved. Please call our office if you’d like to join this effort, or know someone who may enjoy a daily check-in call or chat. We are delighted to distribute cards children have made to our senior friends, offering small rays of cheer and hope in the midst of this challenge.

Working in partnership with the Village of Deerfield, we are able to help channel the good work our community is known for, through volunteer opportunities with the Township itself, or other area service agencies.

Thank you again for your remarkable support!

Alyson Feiger, Township Supervisor

Donations of non-perishable food and household products may be made Monday - Friday, 8:30-4:30, to the cart outside our building. It is checked frequently throughout the day. We are also seeking monetary donations so we may purchase grocery store cards, possibly the safest way to get help directly into the hands of those who need it most. Our website,, now has a donate button, or you may mail checks to 601 Deerfield Road, Deerfield.
