Bridge Reconstruction Projects
Hazel Avenue Bridge and Wilmot Road Bridge
(Updated 5-18-09)
Project Status: COMPLETED
Project Start Date: 5-18-09
The Village of Deerfield is pleased to announce that the 2009 Bridge Rehabilitation Project was completed on July 31, 2009. The bridges were constructed by Herlihy Mid-Continent Company. Each bridge was closed during its construction and traffic was detoured around the site. The bridge closure allowed the contractor to complete the work for each bridge in five weeks, less than the time allotted in their contract.
Each newly constructed bridge was built according to the latest Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) and American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials (AASHTO) requirements. They have been redesigned to accommodate wider sidewalks and a more aesthetically pleasing parapet wall. The total allowable load for each bridge is 25 tons per axle and the projected life span of the structures is more than 50 years.
The Village of Deerfield would like to thank its residents, project neighbors and those along the detour routes for their patience during the construction process. If anyone has any questions or needs additional information regarding the bridge replacement projects, please contact Robert Phillips, Assistant Village Engineer at 847-719-7464, or via email rphillips@deerfield.il.us.
