Lake Cook Road Project (Cook County Highway Dept.)
Project Location: Wilmot Rd to Pfingsten Rd.
(Updated 3-16-2012)
Cook County Project Status: 90% complete ACTIVE
Cook County Project Start Date: March 14, 2010
Project Completion: Spring 2012
The completion of the Lake Cook Road project between Wilmot Road and Deerlake Road is set to resume Monday March 19, 2012. The westbound outside lane will be permanently closed between Pfingsten Road and Deerlake Road for about 6 weeks (2 lanes will still be open to traffic in each direction). The remaining work consists mainly of sidewalk, landscaping, traffic signals and punch list. This type of work requires daily lane closures throughout the project.
The project consists of pavement patching from Wilmot Road to Deer Lake Road. Additional work will include the reconstruction of traffic signals within the project limits, geometric improvements, water main replacement and sewer manhole rehabilitation.
The existing water main, which is owned and maintained by the Village of Deerfield, has failed several times over the past several years. The water main will be reconstructed in a location outside of the proposed pavement. The replacement of the water main will include new valves, hydrants, and new service connections to each property. A new water main system will provide for better service to the public with fewer disruptions and a lower overall maintenance cost.
