Project Status: 50% Completed
(September 15 ,2014)
Project Start: July 14, 2014
Project Completion: October 15, 2014
The Village of Deerfield is pleased to announce that the 2014 Street Rehabilitation Project is tentatively scheduled to begin the week of July 14, 2014. The purpose of this project is to reconstruct and/or rehabilitate the existing Village-owned infrastructure on several streets throughout the Village.
The project will include complete rehabilitation/replacement of the existing roadway, storm sewer repair/replacement, intermittent curb and gutter repair/replacement, and sidewalk replacement as needed.
The Village of Deerfield has selected the following locations for the project this year:
AREA 2 (starting 9-22-14)
AREA 3 (starting 9-22-14)
AREA 4 (completed)
To facilitate the work and keep the contractor on schedule, the project will be divided into three stages: (Stage I) underground utility work; (Stage II) concrete curb removal/replacement, sidewalk repair and roadway rehabilitation; and (Stage III) parkway restoration. Construction will be underway at various locations simultaneously. Therefore, further notification regarding scheduled operations per location will be communicated as it becomes available utilizing the Village’s website and email notifications.
Stage I: Underground utility work
Stage I includes underground utility work and will include storm sewer and some fire hydrant replacement. The majority of construction will be performed in the roadway area with the exception of the replacement of storm sewer structures and sidewalks within the parkway area. If you have existing appurtenances within the parkway or Village Right of Way
(i.e. sprinkler system, electronic “invisible” dog fence, landscape features, special decorative rocks, brick driveways, special vegetative plantings, etc.) you should remove or store these items to avoid damage by construction activity. The Village will not repair or replace private appurtenances left within the parkway, or Village Right of Way, which are damaged during construction.
Stage II: Concrete curb removal/replacement, sidewalk repair, roadway rehabilitation
Stage II will begin upon completion of the underground utility work. The work will be performed as follows:
• Removal and replacement of all deteriorated curbs and sidewalks.
• Removal of roadway pavement and placement of new bituminous asphalt pavement. (Concrete patching on Stratford Rd.)
• Note: The final surface is scheduled to be completed in the first half of October.
• Repair of driveway sections, parkway, and sidewalk impacted by construction.
During Stage II residents may not have access to their driveways and the road will be closed to through traffic while concrete curbs, driveway aprons and concrete sidewalk are being installed. Residents will be advised to park their vehicles on adjacent streets during construction hours (7:30 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.) or in front of their homes after construction hours. The Deerfield Police Department will be notified that residents will be parking in these areas during this stage of construction.
Stage III: Parkway restoration
All parkway areas disturbed by construction activity will be restored. Construction is expected to be completed by October 1, 2014. However, due to the complex nature of the project and the unpredictability of the weather, some delays and disruptions may occur. Additional construction notices will be provided as the project progresses. If you are planning a special event, such as a wedding or large party, or have special needs, please contact us and we will do our best to accommodate you.
Most importantly, the Village will be sending out email notifications to those who have subscribed to receive them. Residents are able to subscribe to location-specific email notifications by clicking on the banner provided below. Users can subscribe to multiple locations and subscribing to VILLAGE WIDE notices is recommended. However, please be certain to subscribe to your location specifically, as special notices may be sent to these subscribers relative to construction operations.
The Village appreciates your effort in helping to complete this improvement. If you have any questions or require special assistance during construction as a result of a disability, please contact the Village of Deerfield Engineering Department at 847-317-2490 and request to speak with someone regarding the 2014 Street Rehabilitation Project. Weekly updates regarding construction progress will be posted on this webpage.
