As a result of the June 26, 2012 bid opening, the Village of Deerfield has awarded a construction contract for the Linden Avenue Infrastructure Rehabilitation Project.  Out of four bidders, A-Lamp Concrete Contractors, Inc. was awarded the project as the low bidder, with a price of $828,012.  We believe that the strained condition of the economy contributed to the favorable prices.

The original roadway and utilities were built in the late 1960’s and have reached the end of their design life. The roadway and underlying public utilities are in poor condition due to unsuitable sub-grade conditions caused by a combination of soils with inadequate bearing capacity and lesser quality of material and construction techniques.  As such, the project includes water main replacement, storm/sanitary sewer replacement, and roadway replacement.  The limits of reconstruction for the project are Linden Avenue between 1400 Linden Avenue and Stratford Road.  Concrete patching will also be performed along Linden Avenue and Berkley Avenue, from west of the reconstruction project (west of Stratford Road).  The project was originally targeted for construction to begin the week of July 30th, but has been delayed.  The project will now have a start date of September 4th, will take approximately 10 weeks, and will be complete in early November.
