North Shore Gas Upgrade and Reliability Project

5/16/2014

The North Shore Gas Company is preparing to begin work on two system upgrades and reliability projects within the Village of Deerfield.  The projects are aimed at replacing aged infrastructure that was originally installed in the 1950s. The work includes replacing medium pressure natural gas mains and residential natural gas services along Deerfield Road east of Wuakegan Road and in the Northeast Quadrant of the Village.

For more information or for questions regarding the following two projects, please contract North Shore Gas at 1.866.556.6004

The Deerfield Road Natural Gas Main Upgrade and Reliability Project:
This project is aimed at replacing the old natural gas main and residential/commercial natural gas service lines along Deerfield Road between Waukegan Road and the eastern limit of the Village.  The work precedes the Deerfield Road reconstruction project, which is currently scheduled to begin in January of 2016.  The work will require isolated daytime lane closures, approximately 500 feet in length, along Deerfield Road in the southern-most eastbound lane.  Lane closures will not be in effect overnight or on weekends.  Residences that will be receiving new gas service lines have been notified by North Shore Gas and are encouraged to participate in the replacement, which will be done at no cost to the owner. This project will begin on April 28th and will take approximately 10 weeks to complete.  See map below for project limits.

The Knollwood Road Natural Gas Main Upgrade and Reliability Project:
This project is aimed at replacing the old natural gas mains and residential natural gas service lines throughout a large portion of the Northeast Quadrant.  The existing natural gas distribution system was installed in the 1950s and has become increasingly difficult to maintain.  Several sections of gas main and dozens of residential gas services will be replaced to ensure more reliable distribution of natural gas.  Residences that will be receiving new gas service lines have been notified by North Shore Gas and are encouraged to participate in the replacement, which will be done at no cost to the owner. This project will begin on April 21, and will take approximately 4 months to complete.  See map below for project limits.
