Investigations and Social Services
Investigations Division
The Investigations Division is a supplemental unit to the Patrol Division. This unit consists of plain-clothes officers who investigate cases that are time consuming or otherwise inappropriate for uniformed officers to pursue. The Youth Division is responsible for investigating youth related crime and cases where children are victims of crimes.
The unit is comprised of a Commander, two full time investigators and two full time juvenile investigators.
Within the Investigations Division there are several Special Units established to assist in the everyday operation of the Department.
Youth and Social Services Division
Two civilians, a Psychologist and Licensed Professional Counselor, are employed to work closely with the Police Department and the community in providing services to people of all ages in crisis.
All of us experience unpredictable crisis in our lives, such as a serious accident, the death of a loved one, divorce or physical/mental illness. We also experience anxiety over predictable life cycle issues such as the last child leaving home, dealing with aging parents, and parent-child stress.
During these periods, confusion and fear can often be more upsetting than the incident itself. It is at these moments that Counseling Services can be of assistance:
- Family Conflicts
- Marital Difficulties
- Separation and Divorce
- School Problems
- Parent-Child Stress
- Child Abuse-Neglect
- Depression
- Substance Abuse
- Domestic Violence
- Sex
- Illness
- Elder Care
- Death and Loss
- Suicide
There is no fee charged for service.
The Deerfield Police Department Social Services Division is also able to refer people to appropriate agencies who can meet particular needs.
