Our mission is to provide you with open access to the world of information and ideas, encouraging lifelong learning and personal growth in a welcoming environment.
The Deerfield Public Library first opened in 1927 with a total of 700 books. The library was originally housed in the Deerfield Grammar School. It was moved to 762 Waukegan Road, then to 860 Waukegan Road and is now permanently located at 920 Waukegan Road.
From 700 books to today’s almost 200,000 items, the Deerfield Public Library has plenty to offer the community! Following are just several of the many opportunities provided by the library:
- Online catalogue— Available 24 hours a day to search the library's holdings, renew items, request or cancel holds, and check the status of his or her account
- Free adult and children’s programs offered year-round
- Library newsletter: Browsing
- Computer access— Free internet access (including wireless for patrons that choose to bring in laptops) and Microsoft Office
- Books to Go!
- A knowledgeable and always helpful staff
