Canceled: Give Where You Live, Veterans Day - Monday, November 12

Give Where You Live

The Give Where You Live - Deerfield event scheduled for Monday, November 12 has been canceled. Previously, this all-ages event has welcomed families and children who were off school for the day, but changes in school holiday schedules conflict with this year's Day of Service.

Please disregard the article in the Village's D-Tales newsletter and any other promotions you may come across.

In lieu of the event, we welcome everyone to join the Deerfield American Legion Post 738 and Mayor Harriet Rosenthal to honor our veterans with a Veterans Day Service. The service is taking place on Sunday, November 11 at 11 a.m. It will be located at the Veterans' Memorial at the intersection of Jewett Park and Park Avenue.

Donations for Give Where You Live - Deerfield will be retained for the Give Where You Live Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service on Monday, January 21, 2019. Since Give Where You Live - Deerfield is a yearlong service campaign, collection boxes will remain in the Village Hall and Police Department lobbies for the following:
  • Non-perishable food
  • Clothing, small appliances and household items
  • Sweat suits, socks and underwear
  • Toiletries
  • Gift cards to popular chain restaurants, such as McDonalds, Subway and Dunkin’ Donuts
  • Monetary donations
Donations are earmarked for the following organizations: Midwest Veteran’s Closet in North Chicago (where Veterans can shop for free); VA Federal Health Care Center in North Chicago; and COOL Ministries.

If you have any questions, please contact Mary Anne Glowacz, Police Communications Director, at 847.794.7501 or by email.
